EV Charger Testing & Commissioning

EV Charger Testing & Commissioning

Engineer commissioning an EV charger with a test adaptor

Testing and commissioning of AC and DC EV chargers before they go into service, and fault finding and periodic testing on chargers already in use.

Commissioning tests

  • Insulation resistance and earth continuity testing
  • Earth fault loop impedance verification
  • RCD and DC fault current protection testing
  • Functional testing with an EV simulator to IEC 61851
  • Charging session verification at rated power
  • Communication and OCPP connection checks
  • Commissioning report and handover documentation

Service and maintenance

  • Fault diagnosis and repair
  • Periodic safety and performance testing
  • Connector, cable and enclosure inspection
  • Firmware updates and configuration

A charger that powers on is not a charger that is safe

An EV charger can light up and start a session while its earth fault protection has never been properly checked. Because a vehicle stays connected for hours, often unattended, protection that works on paper but not in practice is a real risk. We test every protective function with calibrated equipment and a vehicle simulator before a charger is handed over.
