Planned maintenance

The problems worth catching early

Leaking bushings, worn gauges, peeling paint and surface rust are common, easily resolved, and left alone they shorten the life of an otherwise sound transformer. Several of the more serious problems develop inside the tank, where they are only visible through oil analysis and electrical testing. Most of them are repairable if they are found early enough, which is the whole argument for a maintenance schedule rather than a callout.
