Cable Supply & Laying
Open trench cable laying is often used as opposed to laying cables directly into cable ducts. This method of laying cables into the ground tends to be used where the cables in use are of a higher voltage (MV HV Cables)
Cable Supply & Laying

Supply, open trench laying, jointing and termination of LV, MV and HV cable for industrial, utility and infrastructure projects in Qatar.
Open trench laying
Open trench laying is used in preference to pulling cable directly into ducts where the cables are higher voltage and therefore larger in outside diameter. The trench has to be dug and prepared properly before any cable goes in, and the width and depth depend on where the trench is being cut.
How the pull is set up
- Cable winch — positioned at the end of the trench, providing smooth and controlled pulling of the cable along its length
- Winch wire rope — attached to the cable to pull it through, giving the additional strength needed for heavier cables
- Straight cable rollers — used along the straight sections so the cable never contacts the base of the trench, which would damage the outer sheath
- Corner and bend rollers — used at changes of direction to hold the cable within its minimum bending radius
Scope
- Cable supply, LV through to HV
- Route survey and trench preparation
- Cable pulling, laying and backfill
- Jointing and termination
- Cable identification and route marking
- Pre-energisation testing and commissioning
