UPS/Batteries Testing & Commissioning
UPS/Batteries Testing & Commissioning

Discharge testing, capacity verification and commissioning for UPS systems and battery banks, on new installations and on systems already in service.
Why a battery bank needs testing
A battery bank is the one part of a protection or backup scheme that gives no indication of its condition until it is asked to work. Float voltage looks correct on a bank with almost no usable capacity left. The only way to know what is actually there is to discharge it and measure.
Charge and discharge cycle testing
Charge and discharge cycle testing establishes how much capacity a bank retains, by evaluating it through repeated cycles of charging and discharging until performance drops away. The result is a real figure for usable capacity and remaining service life, rather than an assumption.
- Discharge and capacity testing using Torkel 860 and 840 test sets
- Testing across all battery types
- Individual cell and block voltage measurement under load
- Internal resistance measurement and trending
- Weak cell identification before it takes the string down
- Written capacity results against rated capacity
UPS commissioning
- Input and output voltage, frequency and waveform verification
- Load testing and step load response
- Transfer and retransfer testing, including maintenance bypass
- Alarm, monitoring and signalling verification
- Runtime verification under actual load
- Baseline data recorded for comparison against future tests
